About these Idiot Sports Reporters...
by Gambit3
One of my favorite sports sites has always been Sportsline.com, even before it was taken over by CBS to become cbs.sportsline.com. Recently, though, the site seems to have been taken over by lame web idiots whose idea of making a compelling argument is to write that if you don't see things the way they do, it's just because you're a moron. "It's obvious, you see? If you only had a brain."
This past Friday night, I'm watching the NBA Playoffs, and there's breaking news from the NFL Draft: The Houston Texas have just agreed to a contract with North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams. For the better part of a week, the Texans had made it pretty clear to anyone who would listen that they were negotiating with two potential draftees: USC running back Reggie Bush, and Williams.
But not according to CBS Sportsline writer Clark Judge. Oh no. He was too smart for the Texans, and saw through their clever ruse. If only you were as much of a genius as he is, you would not allow yourself to be fooled. You would know the truth.
"Don't buy the rumors about Mario Williams the Texan. It's not happening."
Those were the very emphatic words written by Judge on the front page of Sportsline.com on Friday afternoon. No room for disageerment. No room for other possibilities. Just the wisdom of Clark Judge.
I remember this because I read that article, and I thought to myself, how can you be sure that the Texans are not thinking of Williams? After all, they already have a solid running back in Domanick Davis, who has averaged over 1,000 yards a season and 4.1 yards per carry over the last three years. On the other side of the ball, the Texas were second-to-last in Total Defense and dead last in Scoring Defense. Certainly, a team with that record could use some defensive help?
Not according to the genius of CBS Sportsline's Clark Judge:
